2022 MLB trade deadline: Rumors, live updates as Padres sign Juan Soto to max contract

Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is here. The deadline is set at 6pm on Tuesday and after that point teams cannot make deals to solidify their rosters for the stretch run. The big name is already on the move: Juan Soto is headed to the Padres in a multi-player blockbuster.. Josh Bell is headed to San Diego.

Now that Soto is out of suspension, the market should start moving for other popular trade candidates, including Willson Contreras and JD Martinez. Carlos Rodon is the best available starter if the Giants make him available and get a discount for their interest. As always, expect plenty of activity leading up to the deadline.

In addition to Soto, the biggest names traded by this deadline are Josh Hader (Brewers to Padres), Luis Castillo (Reds to Mariners) and Frankie Montas (A’s to Yankees). Will other big names move? We will find out in the next four hours.
