The trade deadline is here in Major League Baseball. The 2022 MLB trade deadline is set for Tuesday (Aug. 2) at 6 p.m., meaning teams have less than four hours left to finalize their rosters before the playoffs in August and September. This year’s trade deadline isn’t short on hype or big names. The biggest name of them all — Juan Soto — is on the move. About six hours before the deadline, the Nationals and Padres agreed to a deal that would send Soto (and Josh Bell) to San Diego and top prospects to Washington.

Willson Contreras, Ian Happ and Noah Syndergaard are other notable names that could be moved by Tuesday night.

Trades are flying in on Tuesday, but some teams didn’t wait to make a trade. of Yankees Joey Gallo sent starter Frankie Montas, outfielder Andrew Benintendi and relievers Lou Trivino and Scott Efros to the Dodgers, making them one of MLB’s busiest teams before the deadline. Before the Soto deal, the Padres made a surprising move when they acquired Josh Hader from the Brewers. The Mariners, meanwhile, made waves by trading for Luis Castillo.
