A four-star defensive lineman Hunter Osborne Monday night on the 247Sports YouTube channel, committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. As predicted by the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Osborne chose Nick Saban’s team over fellow finalists Clemson, Tennessee and Texas.

Osborne, a senior at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Alabama, took an informal visit to the future university in March and attended the Crimson Tide camp on June 8. He decided to stay in the state.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound player is the No. 133 overall prospect by 247Sports, the No. 17 defensive line prospect and the No. 11 prospect in Alabama. He is now Saban’s 10th four-star commitment for this year’s class. With the commitment, Alabama jumped from the fourth-ranked class nationally to No. 2, landing only Ohio State and hot on the heels of Notre Dame for the top class in 2023.

Osborne looks like he has room to grow and could add more weight to his frame, according to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna, who described Osborne as an athletic player who “flashes the ability to play inside.”

Flashes a good first step from the line of scrimmage, showing good foot and body speed at the point of attack. He plays with good energy and flexibility, showing the ability to bend the rim. A sudden rusher, he drives agility in the pass rush. He can win quickly, swiftly and powerfully. Shows ability to move to power speed at the point of attack, plays with good awareness of leverage and body control. He closes space quickly and flashes excellent back chasing ability. It looks like it has a good engine.

Petagna emphasized that the prognosis of Osborne’s position depends on how he will physically grow into his body in the next year and a half. For now, he could be a “multi-year starter at the top of a Power Five program” with some days of development.
