Bane of magical damage is back! Pheww proved to be viable again

Brain eSports secured a coveted playoff spot in Mobile Legends Week 7: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines Season 10 (MPL PH Season 10) after a massive best-of-three matchup against champions RSG PH.

Brain eSports’ Angelo “Few” Arcangel was banned as both teams split one by one.

This is the first time that the hero has been selected by MPL PH and MPL ID this season. He was a risky pick against RSG’s tanky Akai, Paquito and Franco, but his M2 champions more than made up for it.

Unlike previous seasons where Bane played in the jungle, Brain eSports took a gamble and scored against Midlane with magic items. Few put on an impressive performance against an off-meta hero, and even won the game’s MVP.

Few has the upper hand in determining a magic bane outside of the meta.

The Brain eSports team captain made his presence felt in the first game after securing first blood within two minutes. Roujin “Ougwen” Unigo Atlas played a big role in setting up team fights with Fatal Links dragging enemies to the end of Frozen King.

The Fatal Catch-Fatal Link Wumbo combo was very effective, as the Few safeties were getting kills left and right in the early to mid game.

Brain eSports took an insurmountable lead in the 16th minute after securing an improved Master who finally pushed through the midfield. Breen ignored everything and went to Crystal for a 2-1 victory when Lord was at the base of RSG.

Why did Bane’s magical damage return?

In the post-match press conference, Few explained why, of all the midfield heroes in that match, he went for a long-overdue fighting hero.

“I don’t play him that much,” the 23-year veteran said. “Then this week it was hidden in a recent patch so I wanted to try it out.”

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Patch 1.7.20 focuses on the heroes that have been dominating the current meta, but it also spawns some lesser-known heroes like Bane. He receives a small buff on his second skill, Ale. It now has more damage, and HP regeneration is increased as well.

This small, but impactful buff is similar to last year’s rework in patch 1.5.62, where he received magic scaling on Ale and Kill Catch, along with significant improvements to his stats.

The Frozen King was considered defeated at the time, and was quickly pummeled by subsequent patches until it was nowhere to be seen in ranked and pro play.
