Chelsea are working to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, The Athletic understands.
Stamford Bridge are looking to strengthen their squad as the new Premier League season approaches, with Fofana and Dumfries high on their list of targets.
Leicester are believed to value central defender Fofana in the region of £80m to £85m ($97m to $103m), but Chelsea are hoping to go lower by offering players to their Premier League counterparts.
The Midlands side are under contract until 2027 and have no interest in selling the man who is said to be happy at the King Power Stadium, so it will be difficult for Chelsea or any other suitors to complete at the moment.

But their interest in the France under-21 international is strong and the same goes for the 26-year-old Netherlands international from Dumfries.
Inter will need to raise funds this summer – particularly after talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Milan Skriniar broke down over their asking price – and Chelsea’s admiration for the right-back is strong.
They have already agreed a loan deal for Romelu Lukaku with the Italian side this summer.
Their attempts to recruit Fofana and Dumfries was not a case of one or the other – but both.
