eSports, blockchain, coding – this Johannesburg school is changing the way children learn.

Don’t you dare say the word “class” at this school – it could get you in big trouble. The correct term is “learning hub” and you’ll often find students with their bean bags sitting at their laptops while learning to code or learning about cryptocurrencies.

And don’t go to the “lab” to watch students dissect frogs or do science experiments. What you find instead is a cavernous hall with flashing screens and children playing games.

Believe it or not, eSports is part of the curriculum at Centenary Schools in Sunning Hill, Sandton, Johannesburg.
