Irish build in class of 2023 with F Brady Dunlap

Three-star prospect Brady Dunlap has committed to Notre Dame basketball, giving the team its second commitment in the 2023 recruiting class.

If there’s a team that needs a big recruiting class in the 2023 cycle, it’s Notre Dame basketball. The program has five 5th-year seniors who will be gone straight after next season, as well as a “one-and-done” NBA draft prospect in freshman guard JJ Stallings.

So for a school that isn’t easy to transfer to because of its high academic standards, there may be 6-7 open roster spots. Therefore, they should continue to add strong commitment in the classroom.

of Irish He had one commitment in four-star guard Marcus Burton. And now that a West Coast player has committed to the program, they’ve doubled down.

There are differences between recruiting services, some with Dunlap as a four-star prospect and others a little lower. But all scouts agree that the 6’7 wing has legitimate potential as a future scorer for the Irish. Not only does his size make him a good wing at the power conference level, but he can play some small-sized four-man play to help him space the floor. Dunlap is a strong athlete who fits in well with coach Mike Brey and could be the next leader for Notre Dame basketball.

There will be demand Dunlap Considering what the Irish are going to lose, after a year on the wing, he can get in early and make an impact. Dane Goodwin, the team’s starting wing, averaged 15.0 ppg and will be gone after this season. And so do guys like Robbie Carmody and Trey Wertz. The shooting and scoring that comes from this prospect gives Dunlap a good chance to be a first-round rotation player for 2023-24.

With commitment No. 2, Notre Dame can now build on this and add a few more prospects. A true center and two shooting guards/wings are still needed so there is a lot of work to be done to have a satisfying unit. But picking up Dunlap is a big help for the program this week.
