Wide receiver John Ross was one of the most disappointing draft picks in recent years, but he hopes his career isn’t over.
Ross is close to recovering from a knee injury suffered last season and expects to sign with some team around the start of the season, his agent told ESPN’s Jeremy Fuller.
The Bengals took Ross with the 9th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft — before the Chiefs took him. Patrick Mahomes with number 10. Ross didn’t catch a single pass in his injury-plagued rookie season and caught just 51 passes in four years for the Bengals. He played for the Giants last year and caught 11 passes.
Although Ross has speed and was an effective receiver at Washington College, he has yet to show anything in the NFL. If he gets another chance, it could be his last.
