Allen appeared in Saturday recording He pushed Phillips a little after a play that might have been too close to the signal caller. Allen has not spoken to the media since then, so when asked about it on Thursday, he said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” he said.
But later he gave a longer explanation.
“Tempers fly, it was the first wrap day. Camp is long. “I was probably wrong there,” Allen said. But, again, I’m just trying to get some guys ready. It’s football. Yeah, that was it. It was nothing. I got the Pro V1 box [golf balls] I felt bad for pushing him. But it’s all in love. We’re pushing each other, striving to be great.”
There are other ways to bring strength when we need it. But given what Buffalo wants to accomplish in 2022, he thinks things going down in practice aren’t always bad.
“Sometimes it’s important,” Allen said. “Good teams sometimes fall apart. Men want it so bad, men are so competitive, men push each other. And you saw a little bit of tempers flare today, and again, that’s just because we want to win. We want to work really hard. We want to beat the guys on our side and it doesn’t matter who it is. But it’s good to see the strength now coming out of both the football and the team members because we just want to win football games.
Allen said he’d rather tell legendary head coach Shane McDermott to fix his team than lift it.
“When guys work hard and try to beat the other guy out of them, things shine,” Allen said. “I think that’s just where we are. Men want to win. Men want to hit each other. We also have many speakers in this group. So it was a fun camp, it really was. And I appreciate his strength on both sides of the ball.”
