After a week The Celtics were called by Kevin Durant’s win.An NBA legend who once played for Boston is giving his thoughts on the matter.

On a recent appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show,” Shaquille O’Neal was quick to shut down the idea of a Celtics-Durant pairing, saying “hell no” about the potential trade.

The Hall of Fame center condemned Durant for wanting to leave the Nets — a team whose star has had a big hand in building the team’s future — likening the trade request to leaving a newly built house.

“When you put together a house, you have to live in it,” O’Neill said. “You were the one who hired the architect. You were the one who met the other architect from Philadelphia. You, as a leader, have to make it work, but you don’t want to make it work, I guess you’re going to buy another house. You know he’s probably trying to get to his competitor. It’s easier this way.”

The Celtics’ first push for Durant included a trade package headlined by Jaylen Brown, who still has two years left on his contract. Although the Nets rejected Boston’s initial offer and asked for several additional players and draft picks, the star forward could be part of any trade.

According to O’Neal, though, keeping Brown is in the Celtics’ best interest.

“You have a young nucleus that you can build on and rely on; I would keep it. [Jaylen Brown]” said O’Neill. “I don’t know what everyone else is seeing, but Jaylen was hanging with Durant so hard. It seemed that way to me.

Following a recent report from 33-year-old and Nets owner Joe Tye, O’Neal and others will have more clarity on where Durant ends up in the coming days. He will have a meeting sometime this week.
