The college basketball world received some sad news this Wednesday. UConn star Paige Bookers suffered a torn ACL in her left knee.
Bookers, the 2021 Naismith Player of the Year, will miss the 2022-23 season with the injury.
This injury occurred during a pickup basketball game.
“We are all very sorry for Paige. She has worked hard to get stronger and healthier this offseason, and this is a sad loss,” UConn’s head coach said. Geno Auriemma said. “Paige is an amazing basketball player, but she’s an even better person and teammate and it’s really sad that this happened to her. We’ll miss her presence on the court, but she still does everything she can to lead and help her teammates this season. Our program is better and stronger.” He supports Paige in her healing process to help her bounce back.
Here are some responses to this devastating news:
In her first two seasons with the Huskies, Buecker averaged 18.0 points, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Buecers injury will no doubt affect UConn’s chances of winning the national title next season.
We wish the Buecers a speedy recovery.
