In the year On August 2, it was announced in a press release that Ball State University eSports will partner with international esports organization Gen.G. Gen.G is an organization focused on connecting Asia and America through esports.
Gen.G does this with competitive esports teams in the US, South Korea and China. According to their website, they are ranked 6th on the Forbes 2020 list of the world’s most valuable esports companies and are “the only company that owns and operates major teams” in the aforementioned markets.
This partnership serves the purpose of making Ball State a national leader in esports and continuing the mission of the College of Communication, Information and Media (CCIM) and GENEGY student-athletes participating in sports at Ball State.
Genealogy student-athletes, including those currently in high school, will have the opportunity to apply for admission to Ball State’s CCIM esports program. According to the previously mentioned press release, “Seven student-athletes from the General Elite Sports Academy (GEEA), a Genealogy International School program, have been accepted to Ball State for the fall semester of 2022.”
This partnership aims to help current Ball State eSports student-athletes continue to improve and gain international experience with Gen.G student-athletes.
