The 2023 NBA draft is still more than 10 months away, but several teams have already traded their first-round picks for ’23, and more clubs could do so before this offseason’s trade deadline.

We’ve listed all 30 teams here, so even if a team doesn’t trade its first-round pick, that will be notable. We’ll also provide details on the protection of each traded pick, including what happens in 2024 if it doesn’t change hands in 2023.

Here’s the full breakdown of the status of each 2023 first-round pick:


Atlantic

  • Boston Celtics: has been traded Pacers (Top-12 protected).
    • If this pick lands in the cap range, the Celtics will send the Spurs a 2023 second-round pick.
  • Brooklyn NetsSwitch rights to Rockets.
    • The Nets will have their first round pick, the Rockets’ pick or the Sixers’ pick. If it is the most suitable of the three, they will receive the Sixers’ pick; Otherwise, you get the second most convenient choice among the three.
  • New York Knicks: Self selection.
  • Philadelphia 76ers: has been traded Nets Or Jazz.
    • The Nets will receive the Sixers’ first-round pick if the 2023 first-rounders are the most or second-most favorable of the Sixers, Nets, and Rockets. The least comfortable of the three is jazz.
  • Toronto Raptors: Self selection.

Central

  • Chicago Bulls: has been traded Magic (Protected from above-4).
    • If this pick lands in the protected range, the Bulls owe the Magic their 2024 first-round pick (top-3 protected).
  • Cleveland Cavaliers: has been traded Pacers (Top-14 protected).
    • If this pick lands in the cap range, the Cavaliers will send their 2025 second-round pick and the Lakers’ 2026 second-round pick to the Pacers.
  • Detroit Pistons: has been traded Knicks (Protected above -18).
    • If this pick lands in the protected range, the Pistons owe the Knicks their 2024 first-round pick (top-18 protected).
  • Indiana Packers: Self selection.
  • Milwaukee Bucks: has been traded Rockets (unexpected).

Southeast

  • Atlanta Hawks: Self selection.
  • Charlotte Hornets: has been traded Spurs (protected above -16).
    • If this pick lands in the protected range, the Hornets owe the Spurs their 2024 first-round pick (top-14 protected).
  • Miami Heat: Self selection.
  • Orlando Magic: Self selection.
  • Washington Wizards: has been traded Knicks (Top-14 protected).

    • The Rockets have the ability to trade their pick with the Nets’ 2023 first-rounder.
  • Memphis Grizzlies: Self selection.
