Trinity’s Mandy Roman made her college basketball choice.

Mandy did not wait to recruit Roman.

Of course, schools are looking at her, but the Trinity senior has taken matters into her own hands, and sent out some emails to her favorite schools.

One of those schools was Frostburg State, and it turned out that the interest was mutual.

“Their coaches met me again and told me they saw me play last year,” she said. “They were recruiting one of my teammates but they told me they were busy watching me too and they liked my defense and how I played.”

Roman committed to Frostburg State last week. The 5-foot-6 guard, who averaged nearly 10 points a season ago, said the school’s next visit sealed the deal for her.

“The way I felt on my tour … I was so happy,” she said. “I felt appreciated, and all my hard work … (coach Jenna Eckleberry) was seeing. It was a very good match. “

Roman said several Class III and some Class II schools were also interested. But she’s happy with how it all turned out.

“It’s my dream,” Roman added. “I always knew I wanted to play in college, so I’m happy to have this opportunity.”
