WBC world heavyweight champion Joe Joyce has given his opinion on who will win when they clash in Manchester at the weekend.
The Joyce vs. Parker fight in the heavyweight division is important. The winner moves closer to the soon-to-be-disintegrated belts, and the loser moves back to the fringes.
Tyson Fury, the owner of the belts, planted the flag firmly in Parker’s corner. He gave his prediction to BT Sport Boxing.
“Prediction for the fight – I think this fight is going to be hell. May the best man win, but I’m leaning towards my man Joe Parker by late stoppage or unanimous decision.
No wonder Fury chose Parker to do business with. The pair train together, eat together, piss off the same people. (but not to each other)And support each other in their respective campaigns.
But he goes with Joyce – and suggests there’s more to ‘The Gypsy King’. The WBO interim title is at stake..
“It is a war of good men. It should be a title – WBO temporary, but he will fight for the beautiful guy in the world boxing belt.
He is not wrong. Even as the pair talked about fighting each other at the press conference, it was easy to imagine a walk along Morecambe Bay in the future.
Still, the netizens remain at the gates of Manchester’s AO Arena on Saturday night. There’s a lot at stake here for the winner, and both men know that in order to come out on top, you have to be aggressive.
Former champion Parker enters the ring on a two-fight winning streak against the ever-tough Derrick Chisora. Joyce is undefeated, his last outing coming against Christian Hammer, but this could be the toughest challenge of his career.
On fight night, Fury might be cheering on his training partner. The hometown fighter in Joyce will also have a big following, as the first bell rings in a true 50/50 heavyweight fight that could help shape the future of the division.
The fight will be broadcast on BT Sport Box Office.
