of Utah Jazz Brian Beilein was promoted to assistant with Alex Jensen and Lamar Skeeter.

Bailey has been on the coaching staff with Quin Snyder for the past 3 years and before that was an assistant with the Salt Lake City Stars for 2 years. In addition to helping the team with player development, Bailey has coaching reps during summer league. It’s also good to see Alex Jensen and Lamar Skeeter staying with the team. Not only is it a good sign that the Jazz still have a good coaching core, but it’s also good to see that Quin Snyder’s decision to let go has so many assistants to shed.

Sean Sheldon comes from San Antonio Spurs, where he was the assistant coach. Like trainer Will Hardy, he worked his way up in that organization, starting as a video coordinator. Hopefully, that ability to scout other teams and players will benefit the Jazz or work with players to improve various elements of their game.

This won’t affect the Jazz’s decision on whether or not to trade Donovan Mitchell, but it does show that they are still working to build a strong young coaching staff that will be ready for different challenges next season. If Donovan Mitchell stays, the Jazz will have a coaching staff ready to compete. They obviously have a strong team of development coaches to help develop young players if they make moves.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of this is that the Jazz can hire based on what’s best for the team. The number of young coaches on staff means the Jazz are willing to give the opportunity to develop young talent within the organization. It will be fun to watch next season and it should be an interesting storyline.
